Spills, drips and floods are part of daily life for US bars, nightclubs hotels and restaurants … but all can be quickly solved any time day or night with FloodSax.
Mopping any kind of fluid simply just moves it around while FloodSax instantly soaks it up … and we are talking water, beer and, well, other rather more questionable fluids here.
Test have shown FloodSax can soak up 12 litres of beer … yes, it’s enough to make a grown man cry.
FloodSax are incredibly versatile and multi-purpose.
In their dry state they are very flat with a large absorbent surface area so are ideal at soaking up leaks, drips, spills and internal floods, often in hard-to-reach places such as beneath boilers, underneath sinks or below water pipes … and also in toilets.
Immerse FloodSax fully in water and the gelling polymer inside the FloodSax absorbs and retains the water to become instant sandbags but without any sand in them. They are a uniform shape and size so can quickly be built into highly effective flood barriers to keep floodwater out of homes and businesses or divert it down nearby drains.
FloodSax were devised and manufactured by Environmental Defence Systems (EDS) Ltd and Lucy Bailey from EDS said: “I’ve worked in hospitality so know only too well what can get spilled in pubs, restaurants, hotels and clubs … and sometimes it isn’t very nice and usually difficult to clean up quickly.
“Although FloodSax were invented as an instant alternative sandbag they are now often used indoors in their dry state as the gelling polymer inside the FloodSax soaks just about anything up.”
EDS carried out tests on FloodSax’s effectiveness with beer. It was immersed in 12 litres of beer and soaked the lot up in under 10 minutes.
“It was quite an emotional moment seeing all that wasted beer but it was worth it to prove just how effective FloodSax can be in a beer emergency,” said Lucy. “They’re ideal for escapes of water such as leaking toilets, radiators, boilers and sinks. Pop one in front of your freezer when you’re defrosting it and all the ice and water will soak into it, leaving the floor completely dry.
“FloodSax are white and easy to spot so if they are covering and soaking up a spill or leak they are excellent for health and safety.”
FloodSax come in boxes of 20 and inside the box they are split into 4packs each containing 5 FloodSax in a vacuum pack so they are very space-saving to store.
