FloodSax alternative sandbags saving Americans millions of dollars in flood damage during a winter of storms

The USA is being hit hard with winter storms … but many people are not prepared for the flooding they cause.

A spate of severe snowstorms a few weeks ago have been followed by thunderstoms, torrential rain and even tornadoes blasting across the country from west to east with millions of Americans on high alert for severe weather.

Some authorities provide sand and/or sandbags but people usually have to fill the bags themselves which is back-breaking and time-consuming work, especially when flooding is imminent.

More and more Americans  now use FloodSax sandless sandbags as a handy alternative to traditional sandbags.

This means they are ready 24 hours a day and seven days a week to keep floodwater out of their homes and businesses, saving them thousands of pounds in damage and all the human misery floods cause.

FloodSax are space-saving to store and quick and easy to deploy. They are vacuum-packed so can be kept in the home or business ready to use in most flooding emergencies.

To activate them into becoming instant sandless sandbags, simply immerse the FloodSax in water and the gelling polymer inside the bag absorbs up to 20 litres and then retains it, transforming the FloodSax from something almost as light as a pillowcase to being more effective than traditional sandbags in around five minutes. When built into temporary anti-flood barriers they are tough enough to hold back floodwater caused by torrential rain.

But FloodSax are even more flexible and multi-purpose.

A sandbag is, well, just a sandbag, but FloodSax in their dry state are super-absorbent and with their large surface area are highly effective at soaking up drips, leaks, spills and floods inside homes and businesses, especially in hard-to-reach places such as beneath pipes, radiators, sinks and boilers.

Almost 3 million have now been sold worldwide, many in the US.

Lucy Bailey from FloodSax said: “Everyone is responsible for their own flood protection at all times and just for a few dollars people with FloodSax will be prepared for whenever it floods, be that during the day, night or holidays. It’s very difficult if not impossible to get sandbags in an emergency and, even if you do, they are difficult to lift and handle.

“Often people have to fill their own sandbags from centrally-located sandbag stations but FloodSax can be ready for action in just five minutes.”
